BERTHIER Philippe (Active 1841 - 1851) Set of 12 silver vermeil ice-cream spoons, hallmarked Minerva, perlet border design and AC numerals, and their sugar tongs with claw handles. Weight : 277 g. L. 15.8 cm. Philippe Berthier practiced from 1841 to 1851 at 23 rue aux Ours, then 63 passage Beaufort and finally 21 rue Quincampoix, Paris. This second woodcock hallmark was used from June 5, 1847, and re-inscribed on June 20, 1851. He was one of the greatest silversmiths of the Second Empire, producing a large number of items including tastevins, soup tureens, cups and saucers, timbales and spoons. A second set of silver sugar tongs is included, with an illegible goldsmith's hallmark. Weight : 58 g Total weight : 335 g
